Every time I mention “money” keywords, people ask me what they are. They even try to guess and say that these are keyword like “making money”, “investing” or “making money online”. The thing is that every profession and industry has different “money” keywords and they are the keywords people ready to buy enter in a search engine when looking for your product or a service. These are the keywords buyers use. If you do not know your “money” keywords you are probably trying to attract window shoppers or those who would like free stuff and questions answered but have no intention to invest their money in your business.

Let’s use for example an accounting firm in Toronto. Let’s call them “ABC Accounting Toronto”. They have a website www.ABCAccountingToronto.com and try to optimize their website for keywords like “accounting”, “accountants”, “accounting firm” and “ABC Accounting”. All these keywords are relevant to their business and they are keywords that someone would enter when looking for things related to accounting. The thing is that ABC Accounting is having hard time ranking high in search engine results and they are not seeing much profits from their internet marketing efforts. They recently redesigned their website and added more images and flash, but all that did not get the best return on investment. Most of the visitors to their website already know them or find their website directly from business cards and offline brochures.

What this accounting form needs is find out what people are searching for before they hire an accountant and use these keywords in their search engine optimization (SEO) and internet marketing efforts. Knowing “money” keywords for your industry or profession is one of the first steps you need to take in your internet marketing. Without knowing them you will spend your energy and time targeting wrong audience not interested in your product or service. Instead of buyers you will be getting window shoppers.

“Money” keywords are keywords people enter in search engine before purchasing your product or service. Do you know your money keywords? If you could get 5 more clients every month from your internet marketing efforts how much would that be worth to you?

Businesses depending on local clients should invest in Internet Marketing if they plan to stay competitive in their industry. Here are reasons why:

And 10 is just the number of search results showing on the first page of their search. So even if you have a web site but are nowhere close to the first page of search results for your major “money” keywords, you should still invest in Internet Marketing.
